Black and White Summer Vest – Crochet Pattern

This summer top can also be worn as a sleeveless vest during the cooler months.
European size: 36/38
You Will Need:
Yarn (40% polyamide, 30% viscose, 15% silk, 15% cashmere; 75 m/50 g) — 400 g white and 350 g black; crochet hooks no. 6 and 8.
Patterns and Charts
Floral Square
Make a slip knot, crochet 12 sc into a ring, and close the round with 1 sl st in the first sc (= 1st round).
Work in rounds according to the chart. Each round begins with the number of ch stitches indicated in the chart and ends with 1 sl st.
Work rounds 1–3 once in total, using black yarn for rounds 1 and 3, and white yarn for round 2.
For the 2nd round, start with a new strand of white yarn; for the 3rd round, continue with the same black yarn used in round 1.
Starting from the 2nd square, join motifs in the positions indicated by the arrows using sl sts.

1 floral square = 6.5 × 6.5 cm (2½″ × 2½″).
Pattern Schematic
Instructions
With crochet hook no. 8, make 126 floral squares. Starting from the 2nd square, join them together according to the layout, forming the shape of the top and joining the shoulder seams in the same manner.
Finishing
Using crochet hook no. 6 and black yarn, edge the neckline with one round of arches (= alternately 1 sc, 2 ch) and one round of popcorn stitches.
