Christmas Penguin Amigurumi – Free Crochet Pattern

Using this pattern, you can crochet an adorable Christmas penguin. The toy is worked in crochet, while the hat and scarf are knitted. Any semi-cotton yarn suitable for amigurumi, along with the right hook and knitting needles, will work well.
Materials & Tools
• YarnArt Jeans: 28 (anthracite), 01 (white), 26 (red)
• Alize Cotton Gold: 83 (pumpkin)
• Alize Softy: white
• Crochet hook 1.5 mm
• Knitting needles 2 mm (2 pcs)
• Stuffing
• Polymer clay for the beak and eyes (or ready-made alternatives)
• Glue
• Sewing needle
• Scissors

Wings (2 pcs)
1 rnd: 6 sc in MR
2 rnd: (1 sc, inc) x 3 (9)
3–4 rnds: 9 sc
5 rnd: (1 sc, dec) x 3 (6)
6 rnd: 6 sc
Leave a long tail. Close the opening and bring the yarn under round 2.
Sew the wings below round 6 of the body.

Feet (2 pcs)
1 rnd: 6 sc in MR
2 rnd: In one stitch work (sl st, ch 1, sl st), repeat 2 more times (3 toes).
Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.
Hat (knitted, Alize Softy + red yarn)
Cast on 20 sts (18 + 2 edge).
Rows 1–2: knit
Change to red
Row 3: knit
Row 4: purl
Row 5: knit
Row 6: purl
Continue decreasing 1 stitch in the center of each knit row until 9 stitches remain.
Work 4 more decreases. Close the stitches, sew up the hat and attach to the body with monofilament thread.
Ushanka Hat (knitted)
Cast on 22 sts.
Rows 1–2: knit (Softy)
Change to red
Row 3: knit
Row 4: purl
Row 5: knit
Row 6: purl
Change to Softy
Row 7: knit
Close the stitches, sew the hat, attach a pompom.
Attach red yarn to the back of the hat and crochet around, forming two ear flaps (each: ch 6, 5 sc back, then continue sc to the other side and repeat). Lightly stuff the hat and sew to the body.
Scarf-snood (knitted)
Alternate colors each row (white/red).
Cast on 10 stitches.
Knit 47 rows.
Sew the ends together and attach to the penguin.
Scarf (optional)
Alternate colors every 2 rows.
Cast on 8 stitches. Knit to desired length.
