Using this pattern, you can crochet a festive Christmas candy cane ornament.
The candy cane is worked in two colors using basic crochet stitches. Any acrylic or cotton yarn will work well for this amigurumi project.
A wire frame is used inside to help the candy cane hold its shape. The author also suggests making three different variations of Christmas candies.
Finished size: about 17 cm (adjustable by changing the length of the wire).

Christmas Candy №1
The candy cane pattern consists of four stripes — 2 white and 2 red, with 3 stitches each.
Because the pattern is made on 11 stitches instead of 12, the stripes shift and twist into a spiral.
Prepare the wire frame in advance. Cut a piece of wire according to the desired candy size (mine is 17 cm).
Wrap the ends of the wire with adhesive tape, paper tape, or electrical tape — this prevents the wire from poking through the crocheted fabric.
We crochet in a spiral without slip stitches or joining rounds.
Start with white yarn.
-
6 sc in MR (6)
-
(inc, sc, inc) ×2 (11)
-
Join red yarn, sc in next 3 st
Continue crocheting in rounds, alternating 3 sc with white yarn and 3 sc with red yarn.
This way, you’ll form a striped tube of the desired length.
Do not carry the unused yarn behind the stitches; simply drop it and pick it up again when changing colors.
After crocheting about 4–5 cm, insert the wire frame and lightly stuff the tube as you go.
When the tube reaches the needed length, finish off.
Use white yarn to make a decrease round, close the opening, and fasten off.
Hide the yarn end inside the piece.
Bend the tube into a candy cane shape.
Christmas Candy №2
The candy cane pattern consists of two stripes — white and red, with 6 stitches each.
Since the total stitch count is 10 instead of 12, the stripes gradually spiral around the candy.
Prepare the wire frame as before (mine is 17 cm) and wrap the ends with adhesive tape or paper tape.
Start with red yarn.
-
5 sc in MR (5)
-
5 inc (10)
-
sc in next 6 st, join white yarn, sc in next 6 st
Continue crocheting in a spiral, alternating 6 sc in white and 6 sc in red.
Do not worry about the start of the round — just keep alternating colors evenly.
As you work, crochet a tube of the desired length.
Do not carry the unused yarn behind; drop and pick up as needed.
After about 4–5 cm, insert the wire frame and stuff the tube gradually as you crochet.
When you reach the required length, finish off.
Close the open end with a decrease round using white yarn and fasten off.
Hide the yarn end and bend the candy cane.
Christmas Candy №3
This candy cane consists of two stripes (white and red).
Crochet in a spiral without joining or turning chains.
Prepare the wire frame in advance. Cut a piece of wire according to your desired candy length (mine is 17 cm).
Wrap both ends with adhesive or paper tape to keep the wire from poking through the fabric.
We don’t mark the beginning of the round — simply crochet in a spiral, alternating white and red yarn.
Start with white yarn:
Make 5 sc in MR (pull tight but do not close the ring).
Pull up a loop of white yarn and switch to red.
In the first stitch of the magic ring, make an increase with red yarn (2 sc in same st).
Continue crocheting 4 sc in white, then switch to red.
From here, alternate the colors as you go — crochet evenly in a spiral pattern without visible joins.
When you reach about 4–5 cm, insert the wire and stuff the tube little by little.
Continue until the desired length.
Finish off, close the end with decreases, and weave in the yarn tail.
Bend the tube into a candy cane shape.
