Instructions
Back
Cast on 86 (94) sts and work 1 WS row in purl (not counted in measurements).
Then, between edge stitches, work as follows:
32 (36) sts in Textured Pattern A, 9 sts in Cable Pattern, 2 sts in Check Pattern (begin with 2 purl sts), 9 sts in Cable Pattern, 32 (36) sts in Textured Pattern B.
For the slanted cable effect, in the 1st crossing row (from the beginning), knit together the two stitches just before the first cable and the two stitches immediately after the second cable according to pattern.
At the same time, lift a loop (strand) after the first cable and before the second cable, and knit it twisted to make 1 new st.
Repeat these paired decreases and increases 23 (24) times in every 6th row (each cable crossing row).
After 46.5 (47.5) cm from the cast-on edge, bind off 7 sts at each side for the armholes = 72 (80) sts remain.
At 68 (70.5) cm from the start, bind off all sts according to pattern, leaving the center 22 (26) sts for the neck and 25 (27) sts for each shoulder.
Left Front
Cast on 45 (49) sts and purl 1 WS row (not counted).
Then, between edge stitches, work:
32 (36) sts in Textured Pattern A, 9 sts in Cable Pattern, 2 sts in Check Pattern (begin with 2 purl sts).
Work armhole shaping and cable slant as for the back.
At 62.5 (65) cm from the start, bind off 7 (9) sts from the left edge for the neckline, then in every 2nd row bind off 1 × 3 sts and 3 × 1 st.
At the same height as the back, bind off the remaining 25 (27) sts for the shoulder.
Right Front
Work as for the left front, but mirror all shaping and use Textured Pattern B instead of A.
Sleeves
Cast on 38 (42) sts for each sleeve and work 15 cm in Textured Pattern A for the cuff.
In the last row of the cuff, evenly increase 8 sts = 46 (50) sts.
Continue in Check Pattern between edge stitches.
For sleeve shaping, increase 1 st at each edge:
– every 6th row 7 (10) times,
– every 8th row 2 (0) times,
working new sts in pattern = 64 (70) sts.
After 31.5 (32.5) cm from cuff edge, bind off all sts according to pattern.
Finishing
Block pieces to size, let dry.
Sew shoulder seams.
Neckband:
Pick up 49 (55) sts along the neckline using circular needles and work 6.5 cm in stockinette stitch.
Bind off all sts knitwise on the next RS row.
Fold the neckband in half to the WS and sew down neatly.
Front bands:
Pick up 92 (96) sts along each front edge (including short sides of the neckband) and work as for the neckband.
Sew short sides of bands together at the bottom and top.
Sew in sleeves, then sew side and sleeve seams.
Button loops:
With double strand of yarn, attach yarn at the fold of the right front band, 4 cm from the top edge.
Make a chain of 6 ch, skip 2.5 cm along the edge, and secure the chain with 1 sl st.
Make 2 more button loops at intervals of 9 (10) cm in the same way.
Sew on buttons to match the loops.
