It is best to attach the lining to the bag and strap before assembling the bag. For bag lining,
measure bag and flap and cut fabric to that size plus 1/4″ (6 mm) on all sides for seam allowance. Fold the fabric right sides facing and sew sides of the bag portion, leaving the flap unsewn. Fold all edges under 1/2″ (1.3 cm), wrong sides facing, and hand stitch to the bag interior.
For the strap, cut the fabric to ⁄ ” (6 mm) larger than the crocheted strap on all sides. Fold the edges under 1/2″ (1.3 cm), wrong sides facing. Hand stitch the lining to the strap, centering the fabric to leave 1/4″ of the crocheted strap unlined on all edges. Attach strap to the inside of the bag using a whipstitch and matching thread. Sew the strap ends approx. ⁄ ” below the top edge, making sure to work through both the fabric and yarn layers.
