Patterns and diagrams
Main Pattern
The number of stitches is a multiple of 4 + 2.
Crochet according to the diagram. Start each row as per the diagram with chain stitches instead of the 1st stitch, and with the stitches before the repeat pattern. Continuously repeat the pattern, and finish with the stitches after the repeat.
Work rows 1-3 once, then continuously repeat rows 2 and 3.
Shell Edging
*1 single crochet, 3 chain stitches, and 3 double crochets into the same stitch where the single crochet was made (= 1 “shell”), skip 3 stitches or approximately 1.5 cm along the edge, repeat from *, finish with 1 slip stitch into the 1st single crochet. If possible, place 1 “shell” in the corners.
Gauge
22 starting stitches x 10.5 rows = 13 x 10 cm, worked in the main pattern.

WORK INSTRUCTIONS
The vest consists of nine identical strips.
For the 1st strip, make a chain of 22 chain stitches and 1 turning chain, and crochet using the main pattern. After 91.5 cm = 96 rows from the starting row, finish the work.
Make the remaining 8 strips in the same way.
Assembly
Join the strips with the right sides facing inward using single crochet stitches. After 54 cm from the starting row, leave an opening for the armholes between the 3rd and 4th, as well as the 6th and 7th strips, with an opening size of 20 cm.
Crochet the entire inner edge of the vest with the shell edging.
