Patterns and Schemes
Stockinette Stitch
Rows in both directions: knit rows – knit stitches, purl rows – purl stitches;
Circular rows: knit stitches.
Ribbing
Alternate between 2 knit stitches and 2 purl stitches.
Raglan
At the junctions of the back, front, and sleeves, increase stitches as follows: knit until the last stitch before the marker, make 1 yarn over, knit 2 stitches (marker is placed between these 2 stitches), make 1 yarn over. This way, you have increased by 2 stitches. In the next row, knit the yarn overs with knit stitches to create eyelets. Then continue knitting the increased stitches in stockinette stitch. Increase 8 stitches in one circular row.
Increases/Decreases
To calculate how to evenly increase or decrease stitches, divide the total number of stitches (e.g., 92 stitches) by the number of increases or decreases (e.g., 8) = 11.5. In this example, make a yarn over after every 11th and 12th stitch alternately. In the next row, knit the yarn overs with a twisted knit to avoid creating holes. To decrease stitches in this example, knit two stitches together alternately after every 10th and 11th stitch, and after every 11th and 12th stitch.
Increases (Sleeves)
Knit until the last stitch before the marker, make 1 yarn over, knit 2 stitches (marker is placed between these 2 stitches), make 1 yarn over. In the next row, knit the yarn overs with a twisted knit to avoid creating holes. Then continue knitting the increased stitches in stockinette stitch.
Sequence of Colored Stripes (Sleeves)
- 1.5 cm with white yarn,
- 2 cm with pale blue yarn,
- 1.5 cm with white yarn,
- 2 cm with pale blue yarn,
- 7 cm with white yarn,
- 2 cm with pale blue yarn,
- 1.5 cm with white yarn, then continue knitting with pale blue yarn.
Knitting Gauge
21 stitches x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm, worked in stockinette stitch on size 4 needles.
Pattern
One-piece jumper with wide sleeves
Attention!
Knit the yoke, back, and front as a single piece in the round on circular needles from the center of the back, working top-down.
Knit the sleeves in the round, top-down, initially on double-pointed needles, then on short circular needles.
WORK EXECUTION
Yoke
On circular needles, size 3 and using light blue yarn, cast on 92 (96) 100 (108) 112 (112) stitches and knit 1 round in stockinette stitch, followed by 2 cm of ribbing.
Switch to circular needles size 4 and knit 1 round in stockinette stitch, evenly increasing 8 (4) 8 (8) 4 (4) stitches = 100 (100) 108 (116) 116 (116) stitches.
Knit the next row, attaching markers as follows: 18 (18) 20 (22) 22 (22) stitches (half of the back), attach the 1st marker, knit 14 stitches (sleeve), attach the 2nd marker, knit 36 (36) 40 (44) 44 (44) stitches (front), attach the 3rd marker, knit 14 stitches (sleeve), attach the 4th marker, and knit the remaining 18 (18) 20 (22) 22 (22) stitches (half of the back).
Continue knitting in stockinette stitch.
Simultaneously, starting from the 1st round, increase for raglan lines at the junctions of the back, front, and sleeves on both sides of the 4 markers, in every 2nd row, by 1 stitch, 27 (30) 31 (34) 37 (41) times.
When all increases are completed, you will have 316 (340) 356 (388) 412 (444) stitches on the needles, and the length from the starting row is 21 (23) 24 (26) 28 (31) cm.
Continue knitting without increases until the length reaches 22 (24) 25 (28) 29 (33) cm from the starting row.
On the next round, knit as follows: knit 45 (48) 51 (56) 61 (67) stitches (half of the back), place the next 68 (74) 76 (82) 84 (88) stitches on hold for the sleeve (transfer to a stitch holder), cast on 8 (10) 12 (12) 12 (16) stitches (for underarm), knit 90 (96) 102 (112) 122 (134) stitches (front), place the next 68 (74) 76 (82) 84 (88) stitches on hold for the sleeve, cast on 8 (10) 12 (12) 12 (16) stitches (for underarm), and knit the remaining 45 (48) 51 (56) 61 (67) stitches (half of the back).
Continue to knit the back, front, and sleeves separately. From this point onward, measure the garment!
Back and Front
= 196 (212) 228 (248) 268 (300) stitches.
Continue knitting in the round with stockinette stitch.
After 29 (29) 30 (29) 30 (28) cm from the separation point, knit 1 round, evenly increasing by 40 (44) 48 (52) 56 (64) stitches = 236 (256) 276 (300) 324 (364) stitches.
Switch to circular needles size 3 and knit 2 cm of ribbing.
Switch to circular needles size 4 and bind off the stitches freely following the pattern.
The overall length of the sweater from the shoulder is approximately 56 (58) 60 (62) 64 (66) cm.
Sleeves
Transfer the held stitches of one sleeve onto working circular or double-pointed needles size 4, pick up 1 stitch from each cast-on stitch under the armhole (+ 8 (10) 12 (12) 12 (16) stitches) = 76 (84) 88 (94) 96 (104) stitches.
Mark the midpoint of the 8 (10) 12 (12) 12 (16) stitches under the sleeve with a marker; this will be needed for increases on the inner side of the sleeve.
Knit in the round with stockinette stitch, starting from the marker.
After 7 cm from the beginning of the sleeve, increase 2 stitches on the inner side (see sleeve increases). Increase in this way 12 (10) 11 (10) 11 (9) times every 2.5 (3) 2.5 (3) 2.5 (3) cm = 100 (104) 110 (114) 118 (122) stitches.
Simultaneously, after 19 (17) 17 (15) 14 (12) cm from the beginning of the sleeve, knit in the sequence of colored stripes.
After 42 (40) 40 (38) 37 (34) cm from the beginning of the sleeve or when reaching the desired length (for larger sizes, the sleeve is shorter, as the yoke is longer), knit 1 round, evenly decreasing by 4 (0) 6 (2) 6 (2) stitches = 96 (104) 104 (112) 112 (120) stitches.
In the next row, knit all stitches together in pairs = 48 (52) 52 (56) 56 (60) stitches.
Switch to needles size 3 and knit 5 cm of ribbing.
Switch to needles size 4 and bind off the stitches freely following the pattern.
Knit the second sleeve as the first one.
